Are you struggling to find the perfect Christmas or birthday gift for the dog lover in your life? Well good news, here are some suggestions for gifts for dog lovers to suit every budget. These suggestions offer creative ways to celebrate the bond between humans and their furry friends.
1. Custom Pet Portrait
One of the most heartfelt gifts for dog lovers is a custom portrait of their furry friend. Artists can create detailed, lifelike paintings or drawings based on a photo, capturing the dog’s personality and charm. Many artists offer styles from traditional oil paintings to modern digital illustrations, so you can find a look that perfectly suits the recipient. Some providers even allow customisation options like adding playful backgrounds or props that reflect the dog’s unique personality.
These portraits are perfect for displaying in the home, and every time the owner sees it, they’ll be reminded of their beloved pet. Custom pet portraits are available in various price ranges, allowing you to find one that fits your budget. I got given this one as a gift for my birthday last year, and I was so pleased and surprised! Here are some that look similar you can get from Etsy.
2. Fun Matching Jumpers
How adorable is your dog loving friend going to look in a matching jumper with their pup? From this list of gifts for dog lovers, this is the most festive suggestion. There is just something so fun about a dog in a Christmas jumper, so why not double the fun with a matching set for dog and human. There are some great options for this on Etsy. Checkout this Etsy shop Hotdog Petwear. They have some amazing matching dog & human jumper options – both festive and non-festive!
3. Personalised Dog Toy Box
Dogs are always leaving toys all over the house for people to trip over. A customised, stylish pet toy box is the answer! The dog lover in your life will definitely appreciate a nice way to keep their dog’s toys contained. It will help them to keep a tidy home, although unfortunately this purchase doesn’t include training the dog to tidy up the toys themselves. This is the kind of gift that someone may not think about splashing out on for themselves, but will appreciate the thoughtfulness of. Here is a great option from Amazon – you can choose the colour, and get the text personalised.
4. Dog Friendly Experience Vouchers
Treat your friend and their pet to an experience day out! There are so many activities which are dog friendly in the UK, which make the perfect gifts for dog lovers. Do some research about what is local to you and see what tickles your fancy. Give them the gift of making fun memories together, with you and the pup! Here are some suggestions you could look into. Make sure to take into consideration the weather and the time of year.
Dog friendly steam railway journeys
There are plenty of these up and down the country, and for some of them the dog rides with you for as little as £1! Here are some examples: Lincolnshire Wolds Railway, Dartmouth Steam Railway, Llanberis Lake Railway Snowdonia, The Jacobite Steamtrain Scotland – Also known as the Hogwarts Express!
Dog friendly zoo
The Cotswold Wildlife Park claims to be the only dog friendly wildlife park in the country. If the dog in question is calm around animals, this would be a fantastic day out.
Pumpkin Patch
These can be found all over the country every September and October now! Pumpkin patches are hugely popular for families to go pumpkin picking, and as they are outdoors many are dog friendly – though make sure to check in advance before booking tickets! Some pumpkin picking experiences also include other attractions, like corn maze too.
Stately Homes or National Trust properties
Another great day out option, have you checked out your local Stately Homes or National Trust properties to see if they are dog friendly? Don’t expect these grand old houses to be dog friendly inside, but most will have beautiful extensive grounds for you to enjoy a lovely dog walk. The cafes and restaurants are often dog friendly too. Many of these places ask for booking & payment to enjoy, so it makes for a great present.
Dog friendly hotel stay
This is the most expensive experience on this list of gifts for dog lovers, but have you thought about getting a dog friendly hotel stay for your dog loving friend? Check out my reviews for dog friendly hotels I’ve stayed at and would highly recommend. In Scotland, I can highly recommend Knockderry House. The food here was outstanding, and the views over the Loch were incredible. In England, our favourite stays have been at the Tawny Hotel in Stafforshire, which offers private shepherds huts and lodges with hot tubs. Another hotel I’ve loved is Feldon Valley Lodges in the Cotswolds. Feldon Valley has sleek, modern rooms under a canopy of trees. Both were amazing stays with our pup!
5. Dog Subscription Box
You can get monthly subscription boxes for anything these days. Whether you’re into beauty products, or wine tasting – there is a subscription service to suit you. The same goes for dog lovers! There are plenty of subscription boxes on offer for dogs these days. I don’t just mean boring ones for their daily food, but exciting ones that include treats and toys.
6. Dog Photoshoot
For dog lovers who can’t take enough photos of their dog! Try booking them a photoshoot with a professional. They’ll really appreciate having some high quality shots to hang up in their home, and remember their furry best friend frozen in time forever. Research local to you which photographers might be offering pet photoshoots and see which ones are the highest rated. Not only are they great to get beautiful images, but it’s a fun activity for the family. Many pet photoshoots get everyone involved and playing with the dog, while the photographer gets some fun, natural shots.
7. Hoodie with a Pet Pouch
This is for the small dog owners. Check out this fantastic oversized snuggle hoodie with a pocket for a small dog to cuddle into. The dog lover in your life will love relaxing on the sofa and watching netflix with their best furry friend tucked into their pouch. They will feel like a real kangaroo and joey with this set up!

If you have a dog lover in your life with a great sense of humour, they’ll probably love some novelty clothing with their dog’s face on! On the cheaper end of the scale you can go for some funky socks – these ones are available in 24 design options!
These funky tshirts have been all over my social media recently – they look like a rap album cover with your dog as the star. Simply add your pets name and the required amount of pictures and wait for your customised tee to arrive!
I hope these 8 suggestions of gifts for dog lovers have been helpful. There is a wide variety of options and prices, from products to experiences. Something to suit every taste and budget.
